A remote starter lets you start the vehicle from the house so it is warm and clear by the time you get in. In a Simcoe County winter that is the point. How an installation works
The starter module is wired into the vehicle's ignition, starter and accessory circuits, and on most modern vehicles into the data bus and immobiliser as well. On vehicles with a factory immobiliser, a bypass module lets the starter turn the engine over without the key in the ignition, while the immobiliser still does its job the moment anyone tries to drive off. The vehicle stays locked while running, and shuts down if the brake is pressed without the key present.
Fitting takes a few hours, depending on the vehicle. Dash panels come off, the module and bypass are mounted out of sight, the harness is tapped or plugged into the vehicle wiring, and everything is tested before the panels go back on. Then we show you how it works before you leave.
